Thelema Rabelais 6 pack box set
Kindly donated by: Thelema Mountain Vineyards
Reserve Price: R 3 600
Rabelais is a blend of the best Bordeaux components from our Thelema range. The wine shows concentrated aromas of dark berries, hints of mocha and cedar wood on the nose. The palate has lovely, sweet fruit notes, polished tannins and a long, refined finish.
François Rabelais was a monk, doctor and writer in sixteenth-century France who imagined a utopian abbey on the banks of the Loire. In stark contrast to the religious orders of his day, this community admitted both men and women and encouraged them to live together in great luxury. Only one law governed its members: “Fay ce que vouldras” – Do what thou wilt! This was the Abbey of Thélème, which lent its name to our vineyard on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain: Thelema.

Art piece: Conserving a species on the brink of extinction, White-winged Flufftail, by Cherylee Powell
Kindly donated by: Cherylee Powell
Reserve Price: R 12 000
The White-winged Flufftail (Sarothrura ayresi) is listed as Critically Endangered and only known to occur in Ethiopia and South Africa. The species' survival is threatened by the destruction and degradation of its high-altitude wetland habitat. Through the development of innovative research and monitoring techniques, BirdLife South Africa’s scientists have made numerous breakthroughs that have improved our knowledge of this elusive bird. One such finding was the first confirmed breeding record of White-winged Flufftail in the southern hemisphere at Middelpunt Wetland.
This Work of Art was produced by Cherylee Powell, a shareholder at Dullstroom Trout Farm. Dullstroom Trout Farm has supported BirdLife South Africa’s activities to research, raise funds and foster awareness about White-winged Flufftail at Middelpunt Wetland. The wetland has also been leased by Middelpunt Wetland Trust since 1994. Dullstroom Trout Farm joined the Greater Lakenvlei Protected Environment (GLPE) in 2017 in an effort to improve the protection status of their property. Recently, Dullstroom Trout Farm along with a neighbouring landowner have indicated their intention to declare Middelpunt Wetland as a private nature reserve.
Proceeds to:BirdLife South Africa’s White-winged Flufftail Conservation Project, aiding the protection and management of the species’ wetland habitat in South Africa

Expect to see various species of albatross, shearwater, petrel, storm petrel, and skuas out in the deep, while four species of cormorant, Cape gannets and African penguins are easily seen closer to shore.
